About

We got tired of charts that were technically correct and impossible to stitch.

FlossPixel started in 2026 in Singapore with a small, familiar frustration: every online converter could turn a photo into a grid of squares, and almost none of them produced something you'd want to spend forty hours stitching. Too many colours. Confetti everywhere. Skin tones that came out grey because the tool matched numbers instead of what the eye sees.

So we built the converter we wanted to use. It runs in your browser, because a photo of your dog shouldn't need to be uploaded to anyone's server. It matches against the full floss range using a colour model based on human vision. And it puts stitchability — not pixel fidelity — in your hands with a slider.

What we believe

  • The free part stays free. Direct conversion costs us nothing to run, so it costs you nothing.
  • Your photos are yours. No uploads for direct conversion, no rights claimed, ever.
  • AI is a tool, not the point. We use it where it helps — simplifying a busy photo — and stay out of the way otherwise.
  • Charts should be finished, not fought. Every feature is judged by whether it makes the stitching easier.
