Every pattern you make on FlossPixel comes with full commercial rights. How to turn that into a small business without stepping on anyone else's rights.

FlossPixel claims no rights over what you make. Sell the PDF, sell kits, sell the finished hoop, teach a class from it — no licence fee, no attribution required. What you still have to think about is the source photo and the buyer.
You can sell patterns made from photos you took, illustrations you drew, and AI designs you generated from your own prompts. You cannot sell patterns made from someone else's photo, a film still, a brand logo or a character you do not own — the chart is a derivative of the image, and the image's rights travel with it. Family photos are fine for personal gifts; check before you sell.
| Product | Typical price | What you deliver |
|---|---|---|
| Pattern PDF | $4–12 | The FlossPixel PDF plus a cover image |
| Kit | $20–45 | PDF, pre-cut Aida, floss, needle |
| Finished piece | $60–300+ | Framed or hooped, priced by hours |
For finished pieces, count stitches from the key, assume 60–100 stitches an hour, and price the hours honestly before adding materials.
The key's skein estimates are your packing list. Cut floss into 1-metre lengths per colour, label with the floss code, and include one spare needle. Buyers love a printed key even when the PDF is included.
Marketplaces for digital downloads take a percentage but bring buyers; your own site keeps the margin but not the traffic. Many sellers start on a marketplace and move their best sellers to their own shop later.
Store the original photo with each pattern. If a marketplace asks you to prove the source is yours, a dated original answers the question in one email.
